About "Gopal"
Here is the painting I’ve been working on for the past 2 1/2 months- “Gopal: गोपाल”. In His Avatar on earth, Sri Krishna spent the early part of His life as a cowherd in Gokul and Vrindavan. Cows are hence extremely dear to Him. When I think of Krishna, I always visualize Him playing the flute surrounded with his Cows, who are so dear to Him! Hindu Dharma is based on the belief that the Divine Consciousness that we call God, exists in every being on earth. The Cow is given the same status as a mother who nourishes her children. Krishna is said to be especially happy when His dear cows are protected and cared for. Krishna is so close to my heart, because He is my best friend! This painting is inspired by a real-life baby, who reminds me of Gopal.
I felt blessed and blissful to be painting my Lord Krishna as a Baby! I spent about 6-7 hours per day whenever I worked on “Gopal”. My goal for this painting was for people to look into baby Krishna’s calm and innocent eyes and forget all their stresses and problems in life. Always know that Krishna loves you and will protect you from everything. I hope you all have a Blessed and Spiritually Fulfilling Janmashtami! Happy Birthday Krishna! 💕Hare Krishna Hare Ram!

Oil Painting on Canvas (FOR SALE)

About "Brahmandam"
The peacock has always fascinated me for his beauty and grace. The details and color shades in every single feather are an artist's delight. This peacock feather is a favorite of and adorns the crown of Lord Krishna and is seen to be representative of Him in Hindu iconology. This painting of mine shows this Peacock Feather as the axis around which the Cosmos revolves, Self-illuminating, effulgent and ethereal.

"Kailash Manasam" - Original by Ananya Someshwar
Oil Painting on Canvas (FOR SALE)
Completed: April 2018
About "Kailash Manasam"
This painting of mine had been in the making for over 2 months- I had started working on it soon after I completed “Shivoham”... I worked and reworked on it many times with a few breaks in between...
The sacred Mount Kailash holds special significance for Hindus and Buddhists alike. Hindu belief says it is the mind of Brahma from where everything was created. Buddhist folklore speaks of how Queen Maya was brought to Mansarovar and bathed by the Gods before she gave birth to the Buddha.
I particularly liked the interpretation my Dad gave me when I was in the beginning stages of conceptualizing this piece... He said Kailash is Shiva Himself and the “Sarovar” (lake) at its foot is like our “Manasam”(mind). A mind engulfed in the cares of the world is like a muddy lake... When the mind meditates on the Divine, who is always present within reach, it aspires for stillness. A still lake allows one to look deep inside- right to the bottom...so also when our Manasam attains a certain stillness, the image of the Divine manifests to the seeker...
